Barrett R. King, Esq., to Present as Faculty Member During National Business Institute Probate Boot Camp
For the fourth consecutive year, Barrett R. King, Esq., will be one of seven distinguished faculty members of the National Business Institute’s Probate Boot Camp, a seminar for CPAs, financial planners and attorneys that will focus on probate procedures from start to finish.
Mr. King’s presentation topics during the May 19-20 seminar will be “Probating Insolvent and Bankrupt Estates” as well as addressing “Ancillary Probate and Other Problem Areas.” Within those topics he will focus on specific issues such as avoiding foreclosure of a probate asset, addressing assets that have title problems and dealing with death before a divorce is finalized, among other discussion points.

Barrett R. King, Esq., will be one of five distinguished faculty members of the National Business Institute’s August 8th seminar in Baltimore, titled “Protecting Assets While Qualifying for Medicaid,” a seminar for professionals who work with seniors and their families that will provide an overview of asset protection concepts and crisis management tools elder law attorneys can use while working in the Medicaid environment.
Mr. King’s presentation topics during the seminar will include “Avoiding Conflicts of Interest (Who is Your Client?),” “Dealing with Clients’ Diminishing Mental Capacity,” “Spotting and Preventing Elder Abuse,” “Appropriate Client Communications,” “Navigating through Family Conflict” and “Setting and Collecting Attorney Fees.”

Barrett R. King, Esq., to Present as Faculty Member During National Business Institute December Seminar
Barrett R. King, Partner at Elville and Associates, will be one of six distinguished faculty members of the National Business Institute’s December 5th seminar in Rockville, Maryland, titled “The Probate Process From Start to Finish,” a comprehensive seminar for professionals who work with clients that must navigate through a probate case from start to finish.
The course will provide a step-by-step walkthrough of a probate case with practice tips from the faculty, enable the attendees to effectively guide the executor and administrator through their various duties, help them avoid problems arising from creditors’ claims, assist in forestalling disagreements between beneficiaries along with other topics of importance.
Mr. King’s presentation topic during the seminar will cover “Litigating the Case in Probate Court.” He also authored the portion of the seminar titled, “Uncovering the Laws of Intestacy and How They May Apply.”

Barrett R. King, Partner at Elville and Associates, will be one of eight distinguished faculty members at the National Business Institute’s May 12th seminar in Baltimore, Maryland, titled “Trusts 101,” a comprehensive seminar for professionals involved in creating, administering and terminating trusts.
The course will provide a step-by-step walk-through of a probate case with practice tips from the faculty, enable the attendees to effectively guide the executor and administrator through their various duties, help them avoid problems arising from creditors’ claims, assist in forestalling disagreements between beneficiaries along with other topics of importance.
Mr. King authored and will present the topic, “Estate Planning for the Disabled”— which will cover the types of special needs trusts and their specific purposes and who can be the beneficiary along with drafting tips and samples. He also will present the topic, “Ethical Considerations,” which will cover the importance of confidentiality in third party communications and knowing your client, assessing the client’s capacity and avoiding fraudulent transfers.
Other topics included in the seminar include “Where to Begin?- An Overview of Trusts”; “Revocable Living Trusts”; “Trusts Used for Tax Reduction”; and “Grantor Trusts.”

On April 16th, Partner Barrett R. King, Esq., will be speaking at the Estates & Gift Tax Study Group of the Maryland State Bar Association Section of Estates & Trusts.

Elville and Associates’ Partner Barrett King,Esq., will speak at a seminar titled, “I Was Appointed Guardian of the Property of an Adult: Now What?” Monday, June 8, at the University of Baltimore School of Law. The training is sponsored by The Circuit Court for Baltimore City and will cover what actions need to be taken after being appointed Guardian of the Property of an adult disabled person.
Each attendee of the seminar will be assigned one pro bono case representing a low-income client in the jurisdiction of their choice.
