Memorandums of intent (or letters of intent) can and should be used in all estate and elder law planning, and are not restricted to use only in special needs planning.  Whether the Memorandum is attached to your will or trust, inserted as a provision within the documents, or conveyed by some form of electronic media, you will be providing your fiduciaries and/or loved ones with important guidance, direction, and whatever else you may wish to convey – there are no limitations.
