“Thought for the Day” #792 – by Stephen R. Elville, J.D., LL.M.

Despite the television networks, there is good news in the world – this past week two examples from the world of elder law.  In one instance, a group of friends surrounds an aging couple and selflessly assists them in the management of their financial and health care affairs without compensation; and in another, seven (7) siblings cooperate together in the care of their elderly mother despite there being no advance medical directive appointing one or more of the children as agent(s), thereby avoiding family disintegration in a guardianship proceeding and preserving mother’s dignity and rights of self-determination.
