The Maryland General and Limited Power of Attorney Act, sometimes referred to as “Loretta’s Law”, originated from a case involving an older adult of the same name who was financially exploited by a relative. The relative misused the older adult’s financial power of attorney causing the loss of several hundred thousand dollars.
