Financial, estate, tax planning, and getting clients organized is the primary goal and function of the collaborative team. But what are many clients most concerned about? The answer: health care, and the organization of their health care affairs.
Elville and Associates continues to work to keep its planning team partners on the cutting edge of planning and information.
Living Wills, Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) Orders, and POLST (Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment) have become nationwide patient safety risks for clients. There is a misinterpretation of these documents that exceeds 80% in certain circumstances as DNR orders.
MIDEO, or My Informed Decision on VidEO, is a breakthrough technology that is a form of evidence-based patient-to-clinician video that clarifies documents to prevent misinterpretation and harm to your clients.
Topics to be discussed:
— the differences between living wills, Do Not Resuscitate Orders and Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST)
— MIDEO and unique features of MIDEO as well as the evidence-based research called TRIAD (The Realistic Interpretation of Advance Directives) that supports MIDEO utilization
— strategies to effectively educate your clientele on how to navigate through the complex healthcare system in a safe, effective manner
Presenting from Erie, Pennsylvania via Zoom Video Conference will be Dr. Ferdinando Mirarchi. Dr. Mirarchi is the Chief Medical & Scientific Officer of the Institute on HealthCare Directives and the Founder of MIDEOTM (My Informed Decision on VidEO). He is the Principal Investigator of the TRIAD (The Realistic Interpretation of Advance Directives) Research Series which has been featured by the New York Times & Wall Street Journal. His research reveals there is a new nationwide patient safety risk affecting patients who have living wills, Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment orders and those who are critically ill. His TRIAD VIII study, released by the Journal of Patient Safety, is groundbreaking and reveals we can do better for patients if we incorporate video testimony into their advance care plans. Dr. Mirarchi, is also a practicing Emergency Medicine Physician and Medical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at UPMC-Hamot in Erie, Pennsylvania.
